At Paws and Claws Manawatu, Gold Spot Plecos are a striking bottom-dwelling catfish, valued for both their appearance and their algae-grazing habits.

These plecos feature a dark body covered in bright gold or yellow spots, making them a standout addition to larger freshwater aquariums. They are hardy, nocturnal fish that spend much of their time grazing on algae and biofilm, as well as scavenging leftover food.

Gold Spot Plecos grow large and require long-term planning, making them best suited to medium–large aquariums with good filtration, hiding places, and driftwood.
