Platinum Gourami
Scientific Name: Trichopodus trichopterus
The Platinum Gourami is a beautiful colour variation of the Three-Spot Gourami, known for its shimmering silver-white body and elegant appearance. Their striking colouration and inquisitive personality make them an impressive feature fish for a suitably sized tropical aquarium.
Platinum Gouramis are labyrinth fish, meaning they have a specialised organ that allows them to breathe atmospheric air from the water’s surface. Because of this, they should always have easy access to the surface of the aquarium.

Platinum Gouramis thrive in well-maintained aquariums with a combination of planted areas, floating plants, hiding places, and open swimming space. Gentle to moderate water movement is preferred, particularly around the surface.
Although generally suitable for community aquariums, individual personalities can vary. Males may become territorial, particularly towards other gouramis or similarly shaped fish, so tank mates should be chosen carefully. Providing plenty of space and visual barriers can help reduce territorial behaviour.
They readily accept a varied diet of quality flakes and pellets alongside frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms.
A striking and intelligent feature fish with beautiful platinum colouration, best suited to a spacious tropical aquarium with carefully selected tank mates.
